I am absolutely convinced that portion control and snack control is the key for most people to lose weight. That is the focus of this book. (BTW, I am even more convinced that for health we need to eat healthy foods, which most of the Standard American Diet does not qualify as, but that is not the focus of this book.)The puzzling thing is that the book refers you to the dish diet web site, which describes the patented idea of plates and bowls of gradually decreasing sizes to reduce the quantity that you eat (instead of counting calories). According to the dish diet web site, a set of these bowls and plates can be had (without the book) for thirty bucks. But if you follow the web site's link to amazon, you will see that this same company is charging ninety bucks. Whoa! A 3x increase in price in the short time since the book was published (and apparently the web site is not updated ever)? Seems crazy.
Of course, the book points out that you don't have to buy the dishes. You can just find your own dishes and measure gradually smaller portions. Absolutely true, but it loses the whole patented idea behind this diet, and it becomes merely a matter of "eat less". Still, the fact is that eating less is what 99.9% of us need to do.

The book is repetitious and it seems it is an advertisement for their dishware - which I'm not even sure is available anymore. The diet premise seems impractical to me, but I didn't try it. Seems like it would be too easy to undermine.
